My Brother and I were 'honorary' Coaches and were (underscore) privileged and blessed to have the opportunity to not only spend prior time with the Marin Catholic Wildcats, but to go with and attend the CIF Finals with them!

They ended up placing second in state 24-20 Final at Home Depot Center to the Serra Cavaliers of Gardena CA., and their triple threat - Robert Woods, Paul Richardson and George Farmer.

But what could not be denied was the spirit of Marin Catholic's bruising running-back Chris Adams who ran a 24 rushes for 177 yards. Replacing Nate Kristoff on an injury in the last seconds of the first quarter was Chris Tewhill, who performed wonderfully for what looked like to be a miraculous come back.

MC with dominating time of possession held the ball at the close of the half with 14-14 score.

With 4:43 left in the 4th and MC in possession down by 4 points, Coach P calls time out! They resumed with Tewhill rolling out for four yards, only to be slammed to the ground - 1st down. Serra's defense was relentless.

4th & 13 MC on the 50 2:33 in the 4th, 3 receivers split, Tewhill rolls deep to pass, Serra's backs rush hard, Chris rolls up field to middle with no one open and falls this side of the 50 to trade the side and ultimately click the final minutes down to an honorable second place win! One they should ALL be EXTREMELY PROUD OF!!!

Ken Peralta, with 2 CIF Titles brought his "So what" mentality to mix it up,, and he did just that!

"Coach P" is of the most incredibly selfless coaches I have ever had the honor of being coached by or standing next to on the sidelines! Also, and never to forget, the supporting staff and team were also a pleasure to be around, if only for a short time. Each one of the young players for this team were eager and totally willing to 'give' of themselves to be the best of the best! And they were that and then some!

I hope you enjoy the intensity, the undeniable comradery and spirit that was captured in this genuinely precious and rare moment between coach and players! To me,,, it was a gift!

Please forgive me if your name went unmentioned in this quick writeup - if you were a part of this team - you know who you are - you are every ounce as wonderful as all of those named. Without a single doubt! You should be proud!

WE ARE MC!
