I second that. We need to learn more about Canadian politics pre-postsecondary school. I went to a separate middle school and high school and I didn't learn more than the fact that Canada is a democracy and the list of Prime Ministers we've had. When I graduated high school at 18, I did not feel adequately prepared to make an educated vote in the next election.

It's technically free since you don't pay to go there but our taxes, ect. Go towards healthcare, it's not free

Are you American? I'm pretty sure anyone from any country can name a bunch of historical events where you fucked up... Doesn't mean you're a write-off as a shitty country. Just learn from the history and keep trying to improve... Same as everyone else is doing.

That's most likely either an issue with your provincial government (who has the freedom to dictate curriculum) or else an issue within your specific school/teacher... I've lived in two different provinces (BC and Alberta) and have gone to a public high school in one and both a public and private high school in the other and sure, there are differences in intensity, but you definitely do get the opportunity to learn. You get out of it what you put in into it...
