  • that blue rigging you have set up holding the rocket, is that also your scale?

  • @Punchcatface No it's a huge thick chunk of PCV gas pipe for protection. In case the motor cato'ed.

  • your exhaust looks under expanded

  • @shriramvenu I can assure you the exhaust was coming out of the nozzle at mach.

  • what type of propellant did u make, sugar/kn03?

  • What was your propellent? lol

  • @sempertard I guess so. Well, at least it works. Congrats. And yes, do be careful.

  • @iSOisoleucine you make do with what you have. I took the Wickman motor course twice. Did all the math, overbuilt the motor to withstand >3 times peak chamber pressure. Built a containment vessel that could easily handle any explosion. Fired up my laptop with A/D hardware hooked to a 1500 PSI transducer and watched my careful work fall right into the precalculated expectations. And managed to do it all minus the white lab coat, and deluxe accommodations. But thanks for playing.. Cheers.

  • @sempertard Huh. Haha. Anyways, there is something called experimental rocketry but AFAIK, I don't think its this low...

  • @iSOisoleucine in all the wrong designer colors.

  • @shriramvenu

You are correct, in most cases the expanded plume would be an indication of underexpansion but ammonium nitrate composite propellants create that fireball no matter what; it is a phenomenom that is not well understood.
