Here is a demonstration of using the reflow method to solder an atmega128 processor to a PCB without the need for expensive equipment. The hot air gun was a 10 dollar unit purchased at a popular tool outlet.

Any questions, please ask.

  • No offense boy. But have to add few things up. CAN I?

    ok thank you.

    1) Use chizzle type tip for drag soldering and You don't need a hot air gun.

    2) Use flux paste cuz its more effective and less susceptible for bridging

    3) Clamp a copper cube over the MCU to absorb excessive heat.

    4) GROUND YOUR ARMS or else ESD will kill ur unit.

and wat was that blinking light?????????????????

  • @harindam Sorry for the late response.

1A) Come back when you can use a single question mark and can spell "you're" correctly and then we'll talk about age.

1B) Yes. We know. This is for people who don't have that.

    2) Yes we know. This is for people who don't have that. (Radioshack doesn't carry it.)

    3) Thanks... again... however.. again... this is for people who don't have that.

    4) Obviously. However, read above.

4B) The "record" indicator of my camera.

FOR VIEWERS......... This is a true dumb method to destroy your microcontroller. Do you want to risk your MCU? THEN FOLLOW THIS VID or Try other PROPER SOLDERING INSTRUCTIONS For SMD Soldering.

  • @harindam u mad bro?

  • @Emeengor LOL! I am amused at the amount of comments regarding my nails. Either a surprising amount of women are watching this video, or a surprising amount of girly men. I work in the automotive field while I'm putting myself through college, so yes, my fingernails are going to get some dirt. That, and I'm not girly.

  • Step 1: Clean your nails...

  • If you use a smaller output for this hot air gun, you will get a direct air flow to the pins and not to the processor.

  • this guy would be better off being a mechanic, no really!

  • What kind of board is that and where can I buy one? I have a couple of ATMEGA128A's and need something to mount them onto.

  • @robm111 I'm going mad when people instructing wrong methods in youtube. If you don't know the correct method, mention it clearly.

  • @harindam y u mad bro?

  • Wow, as far as the nails are concerned people grow the fuck up seriously wtf? He and the rest of this country work for a living not some section 8 well-fare receiving YouTube troll. For those who don't agree with this method that's fine we all do it our own way and as far as him destroying his component come on this is 15 dollars worth of stuff tops! He is learning and sharing get off his ass

  • The ability to do more with less is something to be complimented not put down. And despite all the negative comments the board worked.

What is with the obsession with fingernails and hair? The vid was about soldering not a fashion show!

  • My nails are always dirty because I play the acoustic guitar...

People that can't deal with dirty nails ought to get a life!
