http://www.quincymarealestate.com -- Tour Quincy, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.

Quincy, Massachusetts was established as a town in 1792 and incorporated a city in 1888. Nicknamed "The City of Presidents," Quincy serves as a major commerce and business center for the Greater Boston region. A small farming community in its earliest days, Quincy emerged as an industrial titan in the 19th century, with its shipbuilding and granite quarrying operations among the nation's largest.

The Quincy quarries provided the granite for the Bunker Hill Monument among other famous structures. The Fore River shipyard built and launched many of the merchant and naval ships that sailed the world's oceans until long past World War II.

English settlers retaining farms in Quincy into the 18th century included the Adams family, two of whose members are former Presidents, and John Hancock, the first to sign the Declaration of Independence. John Adams followed George Washington as the 2nd President of the United States and his son, John Quincy Adams followed Thomas Jeffereson as president. The Adams homestead still stands today, protected alongside the John Quincy Adams Birthplace and the United First Parish Church as part of Adams National Historical Park.

Quincy has some characteristics of a suburban bedroom community, with several options for private and public transportation to neighboring Boston.
