Courtesy WSU Vet Med College:

A 12-year-old, African spur-thighed tortoise recently had its left front leg amputated at Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and is doing just fine with a swiveling wheel attached to his shell.

  • He moves great in the grass and in bark. He's taken to the wheel very fast. Concrete does seem to be a bit challenging.

  • One time I was riding my bicycle in the street, and when I looked down, there was two nickles just laying there. So I picked them up and kept them.

  • i feel sorry for that turtle missing a leg... :/

  • Seems like the wheel needs to be weighted somehow so he doesn't tip so much.

  • It seems hard for it to move kind of. Next you should fix all that pyramiding the shell has.

    Great job!

  • Deus Ex turtle

  • Looks cuddly

  • Awesome.

  • sad

  • @Augustweisz I think I understand this Doctors problem - he's trying to turtle whisper a tortoise. As a Tortoise Whisperer myself, I can tell you that Mecha-Gamera (kudos to DropPodFullOfPonies) is in a state of metaphysical harmony with his understanding of the wheel. He can quite honestly say "tortoise tortoise, tortoise WHEEEEEL" (really quietly).

  • ooh,how can 12 people dislike this?:(

  • @Augustweisz Discomfort and mental anguish is par to the course for all amputees, at least in my (admittedly limited) experience.

Would you rather they let the turtle die of infection? Or Euthanise it? (though if you are anti tampering you would be against this as well surely) I know most people would rather live with some discomfort than die, I cant imagine it would be much different for a turtle.

Also, if what Goose says is true, Demendez is an untrustworthy cunt, dont know if it is though
