Snake Hunting 09

First day of real spring here in Calgary Alberta Canada and the snakes were out in full effect. Spotted more then 50 snakes!

They have evn more species there, including hognose, bullsnakes, rattlers and garters

Good find...looks like a (Thanophis sirtalis parietalis) type of Common Garter Snake. ill-tempered when first captured, it will bite or expell musk, but it tames quickly and soon becomes docile. Record of logevity is 10 years.

Look guys I am an avid hunter that has spent allota time in the woods.. I kill deer and all other animals that I plan to eat.. but I have learned to deal with snakes, if I see one around my house, say a Texas coral snake or a Western cottonmouth I get a stick, flip it into a bucket and bring it away from my house.. if i find a rat snake or any other non venomous snake I leave it alone because they reduce the rat population around my house.. there is no point in killing them!!

The stupid thing is most people kill snakes for fun so how would anyone that killed a snake like to get shot while people laugh at you and you are in pain or if you got bashed in the head with a shovel and the funny thing is isn't there animal rights like if you kill a snake and it did nothing to you that's like killing a person yet they don't kill people I'm just saying besides we lived with snakes for thousands of years and they are just trying to survive yet we have the easy life
