@whattheholf91 Squats are bad for your knees, if you're using improper technique. That's the whole point of this video. We live in a quad-centric society. By lifting your chest prematurely, you take the power out of your hips/glutes and apply the tension to your quads and knees. If you're taking the full weight of what should be a complete lower body workout and putting it squarely on the knees, you will destroy them.

Watching squat videos has made me realize that my form is terrible, I either hurt my lower back or my knees.

Wouldn't looking down cause you to lean forward more? That happens to me a lot when I squat heavy but that's from not always sticking my butt out. I've also used my knees to much which has caused problems with them too.
I would kill for that amount of one on one time with Rippetoe.
