SONG EAST - DAY 3 - ALASDAIR ROBERTS, MUNTU VALDO, KAMI THOMPSON

Song East is a series of concerts that will take place throughout East 10 in various venues across the East End to showcase
three world-class musicians, each with their own distinctive voice.

Alasdair Robertsis a Scottish vocalist and guitarist whose lo-fi folk songs showcase his musicianship and intricate wordplay but are firmly rooted in traditional songs, ballads and legends.

Muntu Valdo, a multi-talented singer and musician from Cameroon, plays guitar, harmonica and percussion. His music fuses his African roots with soul, jazz and blues to create an individual and highly listenable sound. After first coming to notice at WOMAD in 2007, Valdo moved to London the following year and gigs here regularly.

Kami Thompson is based between London and Manhattan , and recently toured with Bonnie Price Billy. Sister of the critically acclaimed Teddy Thompson, she's moved confidently in family waters, taking part in the Thompson and Wainwright Family Christmases, celebrating Leonard Cohen with Hal Willner, and cutting her own figure with a distinctive mix of beautiful vocals, loud guitars and an unflinchingly direct lyrical bent
