Every ten minutes in Canada a child is born with a Congenital Heart Defect. And yet, the government of Canada does not currently have a standard test for newborns to detect CHD's. This is an informative fact filled slide show.

  • In Ontario some areas are 1 out of 50, but even at that the numbers are incorrect. I think it's much higher. The government doesn't even know or care how many it is, these NUMBERS are children that will likely die. All for what?? A simply test that is not performed, the government isn't doing its job in protecting them... personally to me, both numbers are too high, 14 or 140 no families should have to go through this. The Stat Can of 357,289 is the babies that were born and Survived.

  • great video were in scotland and my son has chd and like canada there is no tests

  • I think you need to check the math. It's 14 babies per day, not 140. According to Stats Can, there were 357,289 babies born between July 2006 and June 2007, divide that by 365 days is 979 per day, and then if it's 1 in 70, that would be 14 per day, not 140.
