thanks for the info, i wasn't assuming the whole concert was like this, just thought it was strange. i suppose its impossible to better frank's solo here so don't blame him for not trying! i'm going to see him in birmingham, UK on june 15th so will see/hear for myself!

You have to see it in concert to understand. I agree with you about this video. The whole show isn't like this, it's more of a special treat they do. Here, they do have the band vamp over a rare Zappa video. In concert, it really works well and you almost feel like the Zappa's are playing together. Dweezil definitely handles the solos through most of the show. Go see it, if you can.

half a frank for 40 francs

maybe its the quality of the audio but is dweezil even playing the lead? or are they just playing the baby snakes DVD and dweezil is playing the chords along to it?

Great musician, bad sound quality. Video could be a lot better. I am a big fan of Frank Zappa and all of his solos. All in all it's a very good video.

Greatest tune ever to an end of a concert, I go for Bongo Fury-days preferably. There is only one Zappa as an acceptable musician and composer.
This version is lacking Cpt. Beefheart. From "Overnight..." to "New York" Frank did his best recordings, I think

I saw FZ in Houston, Texas at the old Music Hall in 1977, I was 16. I've played guitar ever since.
I play nothing like FZ. Who can? But what an inspiring song.
DZ, you're dad rocked.
Thanks for carrying on the music.
Inca Roads, that's how FZ showed up on this planet. Wished I would have seen YA'LL in Austin..
