Colorado Springs Utilities Energy Conservation Specialist, Steven Leinweber, speaks about the Energy Cooling Optimization (ECO) program offered by Springs Utilities to customers.
ECO or Load cycling programs are a proven strategy used by utilities across the country to reduce demand for electric power during hot summer days. Well established programs are a significant contributor to stabilizing rates, delaying the need to construct new power plants and reducing environmental impacts.
By participating in our ECO Program, you allow us to adjust your central air conditioning thermostat upward two to four degrees during periods of high demand for electric power, usually between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Thermostats may be adjusted up to 25 times each year.
