Recently The Mouth has noticed that any time a Player gets hit viciously along the boards whether it be legal or illegal, the team of the victimized player takes it upon themselves to start World War III.

Last Sunday on November 14th, during a Ranger drubbing of the young upstart Oilers, Sean Avery flattened Oiler Colin Fraser with a tough legal check.

For some reason Fraser's teammate Ladislav Smid decided to drop the gloves with Sean Avery to avenge what really was just a clean hard hit.

What transpired on the ice after that everybody and their mother has an opinion on.

It also appears that even off ice opinions ran strong as Avery's fellow teammate and resident Ranger lack of confidence headcase Erik Christensen told both TV and Ranger beat reporter "Dancin" Larry Brooks that Avery sucker punched Smid.

The Mouth breaks the whole altercation down in usual skewed fashion and even includes the hard to find footage of Christensen speaking to TSN about the Avery decking of Ladislav Smid.

  • I was at this game, and it was fucking amazing. I was arguing with some Oiler fans in front of us after the brawl about whether or not Avery's hit was dirty. I kind of was, but too fucking bad. Like you said, that's who Sean Avery is. Also, I love how everyone says Avery's the bad guy here because Smid looked away, yet everyone blames the victim of one of those blindside his they've been obsessed with lately for not keeping his head up. If anyone other then Avery did this, no one would care.

  • @GOODPLAYA20 You lucky bastard ! You were there ! I'm so envious.

  • @MomotheOld How are you liking boogey so far?

  • @MrBarelylethal started slow now Ranger fans are taking to him. He's filled his role perfectly. he really is a freak of nature lol

  • If anyone other than Avery did this... Hang on, no one other than Avery will do this.

If you're gonna make it look like you're not dropping the gloves and then boom, you are a cheap punk. Smid barely got his gloves off by the time Avery clocked him, there was no way for him to protect himself...

  • Avery's a bitch.

  • WTF was Christensen talking about?!? Smid was looking the whole time. He just got surprised because Avery wasn't biting. Definitely not very sporting, but NOT a sucker punch. Smid even had time to drop his gloves...what he should have done was get his hands up, and lose them as they were going at it. Gotta love the fact it was 'Kids Day' at the Gardens as well....

  • I think that da Oil had 7 or 8 guys on the ice too

also I was reminded of a game back in the 80's with Eddie Mio in goal up in Alberta when da Oil machine just destroyed the rangers. I thought there will come a day when NY turns the tables, and you know what ? this game was payback.

I think Avery and Matt Cooke are cut from the same cloth, don't ever turn your back or let your guard down. Ever.

The Staal lumber to the back of Cooke's head and the penguins crying about it was also well worth it.
