Heres a review on an alternative to VHF, UHF, CB, HAM, FRS, GMRS radios. The i355 is a Mil-Spec cell phone that works off network as a walkie talkie. Digitally Secure, decent range, and CHEAP!

  • wow nice vid it was interesting iam planning to get a set of four does this motorola i355 works without the sim card or do you need to activate it with the new sim card or just any nextel old used no longer in service sim card, any sim card will work? imean like boost or any GSM carrier like T-MOBILE,AT&T and if you use it to another country like in ASIA will they work or you need to unlocked it first? .... thank you

  • @kundiman082 from my understanding it has to be a nextel sim card to unlock the phone and gain access to the menu's. And as far as using it in other countries it will depend on that countries regulations. Im not sure about Asia, i know in the UK they have different frequencies reserved for police/emergency services so you might want to check your local regulations.

  • Something to add, with SIM Card and Extended antenna's....I have about 20 bucks invested in each of my phones ( I have five.) I think this is about average....For 100 bucks you can match the capabilities of a GRMS and FRS radio but cheaper and supply most of the family.

  • @ThePatriotsChoice Yeah its a really inexpensive alternative.. or in my case an inexpensive addition to the communications tool box. I think everyone needs a FRS/GMRS, CB, and UHF/VHF radio, that way you can hear what else is going on in the world, these provide close range secure communications within your group that you dont want broadcasted out to the general public.

  • Really appreciate this vid, and am curious if you have had any time to t&e these radios more? do you still consider them a viable com option for local retreats, and although i know it is subject to a million conditions, what range are you seeing with these? Thanks!

  • @ThePatriotsChoice Right! An amp doesnt do any good if its amplifying the wrong frequency! LOL

  • @ThePatriotsChoice This is important because if you want to amplify the signal you need to have the right amplifier for the band.

  • The PTT part is actually in the ISM band 902-928MHZ rather than the 800-900 cell phone IDEN band.
