Um your not getting any experience points from what i can tell. after winning those 2 battles u should be at lv 6. i think ur rom isnt complete. This happened to me as well. You won't gain level unless u fix it.

I think part of nintendo's copy protection on this game is preventing illegally made copies from levelling up Pokemon(which is why you kept dying in your first real battle), so I don't think you can play this game on an emulator without patching your ROM

Audio is 7 seconds out, easily fixed in Vegas by seperating the audio track :)

Also patch your ROM! My White version works fine.

Oh dear oh dear. No intro, crackly audio quality, audio/video sync issues AND the rom you are playing is broken...
