Because they had a different CPU???... That makes little sense.
You probably just dislike Intel, funny thing is now they probably have more competition than back then with the huge expansion of ARM chips.

This was not 2005, this was in 2003. Still a pretty awsome machine, too bad Apple jumped off the PowerPC train. Their products had more soul back then.
