A drive down State Rd A1A in NE Florida is one of the most scenic drives in Florida, and stopping along the way to visit these areas will be a memorable experience.
Anastasia State Park is located at the North end of St Augustine Beach. Known for beautiful white dunes, camping and unusual vegetation (check out the trees canopy in the picnic area).
Driving south on A1A is the Ft Matanzas National Monument, which includes a nice nature trail of about 1/4 mile elevated to allow good views of coastal scrub vegetation.
South of Matanzas is Marineland of Florida. Long before Disney World and Seaworld, Marineland was a major attraction. Today it is a working education facility, with major emphasis on marine habitat and ecology.
At the farthest Southern edge of our day journey is Washington Gardens State Park, located just outside Flagler Beach. It is one of the most scenic State Parks in Florida, and includes lush gardens, a rose garden, education center and tropical stocked ponds
