Olivier Latry at Notre Dame organ.
I really like this one, with the "quinte" stop, and another stop which I don't know the name (if someone knows, I would be glad to learn which it is, it is the one right at the beginning, a kind of trumpet, probably on the Grand Orgue). This impro is rather similar to the 31-05-2008 one, which is my favorite.

  • Thanks for the guess.

I would like to see more videos of him, because I suppose each organist has specific habits concerning the way they use stops.

  • Shall I understand that the Trompette 8 of the Grand Orgue is different from the Trompette 8 of the Recit ? (Not being myself organist, I'm trying to understand). What makes you think that this one is on the Recit ?

  • Too bad about the crowd noise. Thanks for posting!

  • but the peopel are talking to much and have not the resprect for the organ player! i dont like that the tourists can visit notre dam during the holy mass!

  • Thanks for posting! Very nice improvisation.

As far as I know there are 5 chamades, 3 from Cochereau's era (2/16' , 8' and 4'), and 2 from the 1991 restauration. The 2 new chamades are 8' and 4' and made after the Toulouse Cavaille-Coll organ. All together the 5 chamades can be use in every manual.

The first trompette was definitaly not en chamade stop but after...

  • the people are always talking in notre dame...it's horribile :-D

  • The "Grand Orgue" has the following reeds: Bombarde 16, Trompette 8, Clairon 4 + Trompette 8 and Clairon 4 "en chamade". But I think that Latry firstly used the Trompette 8 of the "Grand-Choeur" and after the Trompette 8 of the "Récit". This is another great improvisation!

  • There are no reeds on the Grand Orgue. It is probably one of the Récit reeds -- Trompette or Cornet.
