Over time, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD, can lead to Barretts esophagus, dysplasia or even esophagus cancer (adenocarcinoma.) This video describes radiofrequency ablation and cryotherapy, two newer treatments for treating Barretts esophagus with high-grade dysplasia. Radiofrequency ablation delivers energy to destroy the tissue containing abnormal cells. Cyrotherapy uses extreme cold to destroy abnormal cells. Mayo Clinic has a very large team with an international reputation for its skill in diagnosing and treating reflux, Barretts esophagus and esophagus cancer.
