  • Go Chiefs!!

  • As for the Superbowl, it would have just been a championship game, possibly without the 'AFL show'.

Yes, without all the insufferable bombast, and superficial, flashy crap that always nearly dwarfs the game by comparison.

  • @Substantive64 The Cowboys were created as a result of the AFL. Hunt wanted to relocate an existing franchise to Dallas, which failed, or own an expansion team. The NFL refused fearing it would oversaturate the market. When Hunt announced the AFL, the NFL backtracked, created a team in Dallas and poached Minnesota. Sure without the AFL a Dallas franchise would have occurred, but not the Cowboys. As for the Superbowl, it would have just been a championship game, possibly without the 'AFL show'.

  • 4:37 - 4:55 well, it always worked for Vince Lombardi and the Packers in SB 1!!!!

  • "If it weren't for the AFL, there would be no Dallas Cowboys and no Super Bowl."

The Cowboys were born the same year as the AFL.They were emerging as one of the best NFL teams by the time of the first SB,and were nearly the NFL representative in the first 2 SB's,but were thwarted by Lombardi and Green Bay in two heartbreaking, last minute defeats. They would have survived even if there been no Super Bowl.

  • This was a remarkable documentary/film...awesome to see the AFL revisited so thoroughly.

  • R.I.P AL!!

  • @BatmanFan1966 I don't know: I'd have to watch this series all over again, but I just don't like the guy.

  • @cochranexyz I'm curious the reason or reasons why you've grown to dislike Commissioner Rozelle? I don't dislike him, but I do dislike the fact that he seemed to have so much of the credit and acclaimations bestowed upon him, while Lamar Hunt seemed to go almost overlooked. I'm grateful that this entire series was posted on here. I watched it on NFL Network, and have re-watched it on here now, and plan to again and again. Innovation is inspiring, these men, this league was and is inspiring!

  • 65 toss power trap

  • You know, I got really excited during the 2009 season when I saw the old school AFL uniforms in action, especially the KC Cheifs wearing the old Dallas Texans uniforms against my favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. If it weren't for the AFL, there would be no Dallas Cowboys and no Super Bowl. My hats off to the men and women who poured their heart and soul into the AFL. May the legacy live forever.
