I like the metal bridges.
-
So great that people kept these old films and can now share them. Thank you

That was brilliant, especially seeing the road bridge still under construction. I have never seen that before, and yet I have driven over it many times. Still gives me a buzz to this day...

I saw the last ferry in 1965

How I remember this scene. My grandfather was a keen railway man and loved engineering so we were always taking trips out from Edinburgh to view progress on the new road bridge. Thank you for this clip.

But it was a class 101!
-
Disappointing - no steam locomotive!

You're welcome; I also got a kick out of your "Dalek" impersonation...Took me back to my nipperhood LOL

donaldwh: your dad's "cine films" are a fascinating and valuable
historic link to the past; thanks for posting!

Thanks, I'm sure if he was still with us he'd be amused at the interest that they have generated.

I live in the Ferry, see these almost every day. It's a shame all the construction is now going, and there thinking of closing the Forth Road Bridge and make a new one, due to safety and structure.
Thanks for the post, I'm replying very late (1year) but this is something I came across, and I want to thank you.

The forth Road Bridge isn't going to close any time soon. They did all the tests and say there's no problem for it to continue for is planned design life of over 100 years. Its also now a Catagory A listed structure which means you can't just pull it down. There will be a new Bridge but the old one will still be needed.
