LOVE DANIEL--in both forms--Spader in the movie and Shanks in the series. Daniel is my perfect man and whoever originally created the character read my mind. Kind, smart, not arrogant, respects women and GREAT HAIR. Oh to be 19 and have someone like him come along (sigh)

@mysterio5005 The probe was probably fitted with a gravimeter so it could determine that there was a significant gravitational force acting on the environment in which the probe arrived. Sounds like something you'd want to know. So yeah, there's the mass. Since the symbols themselves are supposed to define points derived from known stars it should be fairly easy to track where it's going (but during it...?). The "galaxy far far away" thing makes a feat like that highly implausible anyway.

@AnonVonZilch But then you would need more than six symbols. Because along the axis of the seventh symbol it could be in any galaxy so it dosn't make that much sense. The 8th symbol for a different galaxy makes a lot more sense to reach another galaxy. Alos, the Goau'ld are extremely different in the movie.

Definately. Does it really cost too much to have that cone in a weekly show?
The movie is superior to the TV show in at least one other respect: The "aliens" don't speak English.
