I've come to hate horizontally mounted motors. They leave precious little space for batteries. Most latitudinally mounted motors (trucks, BMW, VOLVO and some VW) sit lower and fit more batteries under the hood. U want to get most of your weight on the front axle.
Really think about your battery selection BEFORE you pull the ICE.
