  • In spite of my pen-name, I am half Norman. Very proud of my Irish and Scottish heritage, but by blood I'm half Norman.

  • its so funny when americans say ireland lol irreealand love it :D

  • A norman family that was not a historical welsh family. Also another scottish-norman family the Bruce (king roberts brother) invaded northern ulster to kick out the anglo-norman invaders so not all normans were bad. Some spoke gaelic and sympathised with the irish kingdoms.

  • @seonidh But it's true Fitzgerald family ruled south wales, they got asked by one of the Irish kings to help him take his land back, so the Fitzgerald's took a few hundred Norman knights and beat the Irish to take the province of leinster.

  • @msgoldoche2:

Although i am a peasant, my ancients were awarded land in england ireland and wales, for their part in the battle of hastings.

  • @donk43211234:

Yes, me too. We came form the town of "joise" (meaning joy)

  • @msgoldoche2:

You have a good point there - there seem to be HUNDREDS of yrs between the franks conceding normandy, and the normans invading britain.

To be honest, i think there is much of history which doesnt fit (or at least, isnt taught in a truthful way).

For instance, most peopel dont realise that the arab muslims (mostly called "khan") are descended of Ghengihs "Khan". Maybe in a level or degrees, they would be taught this, but its not general knowledge.
