Great album and song. I grew up in the 70's listening to this album and the two albums before this one, Piano Man and Streetlife Serenader. Originally from Long Island myself, so of course, I would listen to Billy. The Stranger came out when I was in high school. Thanx for posting this.

Good call. I want to hear the song as I heard it as a child. Every song on Youtube should be studio first, and then toss in a live one. This song is on my top ten list of perfect songs, which is identified as something that never gets old, no matter how many times you hear it, and is perfect in music and lyrics, from the first note to the last. I've noticed that BJ must prefer this one, as well, because he performs it in many different venues, and it's often requested in his "Master Class."

Gotta admit I didn't know about this song until I heard it on the Shea Stadium concert... what a masterpiece! The piano and vocals are awesome.
