No its not. How you can you play a roll, when your thumb and finger are tight together?
Just because he isn't holding a pick, doesn't mean he has to have his finger and thumb stuck together. But hey. He asked how you do those other things, and I'm saying its not like that. But do it your own way, I ain't bothered how you do it, or not.

@strumminsimon - thumb and forefinger together is the tried and tested technique!

right you are! i think its because your thumb and finger are tight together. try just using your finger. then you can start getting in tho the other stuff you mention
