Denn alles Fleisch, es ist wie Gras.

That means, all (human) life is ephemeral.

By the way, Brahms has nothing to do with the Nazis, just like all your convicted murderers have nothing to do with the rest of your society.

Whoever thinks that 12 yrs of a terrible dictatorship of not even 10 % of the German society (who suppressed the others) is now the fate of everyone just because he is German, he should start thinking ...

Are we like babies now pointing out at each other finding criminals

Brahms, who rearranged gypsy music (Hungarian Dances), would have supported the Nazis? And a requiem does not fit too well either: Nazis wanted power and vitality and not ephemeral flesh!

Just to flame ya a lil bit with hard facts and true arguments! ;)

Brahms played even in synagogues and among his best friends were jews. Bach also had as best friends jews. The Goldberg variations were composed by Bach for his jewish friend, Golberg, who was sick and for whom Bach wanted to make his lieing in bed less anoying by playing him the variations. The spirit of the music of Brahms and Bach compared to the spirit of the music of Wagner or Richard Straus proves already that these ccomposer were most human and not compatible with the nazi spirit.

Brahms has nothing to do with the Nazis. "Denn alles Fleisch" from his German Requiem was, however, used as the theme tune for the documentary, "the Nazis, a warning from History". Thus, I assume, many people have heard it in this context.

sorry, my comment didn't make no sense.

I meant to say: I think it's hard to tell weather people, that died before 1933, would have aproved hitlers actions. however, wagner was very antisemitic and hitler was not only a fan of wagner's music but also political views. I have, on the other hand, never heard such things about brahms. (why are people even discussing stuff like that... instead of just listening and enjoying the music)
