Near Mid-air Between F-16 & F-14

Near miss at 500 kts!

During an exercise an F-14 passes right in front of an F-16 - it must be within about 250 feet!

Here's the view, normal and slow-motion, from the F-16's HUD camera. The last clip shows the pass in real time.

In the last clip, you can hear the back seater ask "That wasn't jetwash, was it?" They slow down and do a precautionary checklist. They didn't know what happened for sure 'til they got back to base and reviewed the tape. Whew!

Yes, this F-16N had two seats to train RIOs.

STFU...I've been on SAR missions to recover body parts of pilots from mid-air collisions. It's not pretty. One guy was an Italian student pilot training at ENJJPT @ Sheppard AFB...we couldn't find his left arm for 2 days...finally had to get the cadaver dogs to find it. It looked like a piece of wood after being in the Texas heat and sun for that long.
