Just for the record. Oreste Kirkop was't the only maltese who had a main role in a Hollywood film. Did you forget Joseph Calleja who appeared in such films such as Gilda, Public Enemy Number One, etc. Joseph also helped Oreste a lot when the latter went to Hollywood.

Thanks for all of these great posts. I've been looking for this version of the Vagabond King for many years.
I wish that Oreste had also played Karl Franz in the Student Prince instead of Edmond Purdom with Mario Lanza's voice. With his great voice and accent, the role would be perfect.

Not that I know of, I've managed to aquire an incomplete part of the movie some years back when it was shown on Tv, maybe if Paramount are contacted they might make this movie available on DVD, just a thought.....

Its a shame that at some places on the internet The Vagabond King is attributed to Mario Lanza instead of Oreste Kirkop!

Thanks for your info regarding Oreste shame at the age of 38 he retired for some reason or another..His talent lives on through sites like this....
