I didn't hear that. The first chorus sounds fuller, the second not so full. But I think it is Robertson's mic that's off. On the second chorus, I can hear 3 voices, but Robbie's like 3 feet away from the mic. Richard's vocals are less prominent, but I think that's cuz he's singing farther from his mic.

It looks like Levon is telling them to turn Richard's mic down, not Robbie's. Notice how upfront Richard's voice is during the first chorus compared to the others.

One of my all time favorite tunes. Read somewhere it's about the impossibility of being a savior. Makes alot of sense in that light.

I saw them at Trinity College in Hartford Ct about 1969. Best concert I have ever seen.
