I urge you to check out the meaning of tongues in the Greek.

G1100

1) the tongue, a member of the body, an organ of speech

2) a tongue

a) the language or dialect used by a particular people distinct from that of other nations

It's talking about a foreign language, like German, Spanish, Italian, etc. Not some unknown babbling that can't be translated into an understandable sentence.

@NobodySpecial85 I posted factual information on the meaning of the word tongues directly from the original language. I won't make any apologies for God's word to us, it is what it is. If God wanted us to speak in an unknown babble (confusion) He would have clearly stated so in his letter to us. Kindly and respectfully, if you would, please stick to the facts and do not judge the Holy Spirit within me as indeed, you judge God whilst doing so.

@mrusso27 Not judging you if you're not in sin. However, I am to judge all things (1Th 5:21) and I have a right to judge your fruit (Mat 7:20).

Like I said, I love researching the letter, but that which is of the spirit is only given by the spirit to be understood by the spirit of God (1Co 3:18-19).

@nobodyspecial I think it's a great subject to talk about because it's one of the most asked about topic in God's word. You have to make your own decisions about what you believe in God's word and hopefully by witnessing it through more than one verse. Check out this link for an in depth study about tongues. Regardless of how you believe we can still be friends and agree to disagree.

@bowiehs Well brother, I never said I did not believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe you misunderstood me. I believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ as God & God's son, and the Holy Spirit which comes from God as it is His spirit.

And yes, I have already received the power of the Holy Spirit. I have healed the sick in Jesus' name and cast out real/actual demons in Jesus' name. His power is manifest in my life through the power of the Holy Spirit.

@NobodySpecial85 But it is necessary, without the holy ghost you have no power. Acts 1:8- Ye shall receive power after the holy ghost has come upon you,.

I am thrilled that you believe in Jesus, but to not believe in the holy spirit is fruitless. I follow Jesus too,but I believe in God and the holy spirit. Jesus says no man comes through the father but by me. There are many other scriptures too, if you want more just message me.
