Monday the 6th of April saw the first day of operation for our brand new wind turbine at ITT Dublin. The blades have been lashing around all week and it is already looking like a great success.
Construction was completed in December 2008 as a collaborative Engineering project and the blades were finally let loose this week. As well as providing the Institute with an additional environmentally friendly energy source, it will also form a case study in one of the modules of our brand new Bachelor Degree Energy and Environmental Engineering.
You can read more about that course here www.it-tallaght.ie/FullTimeCourses/MechanicalEngineering/Name,19724,en.html
up to 52,560 units per annum I'm told...no I didn't make it! It was a collaborative Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Engineering project.

I'm not sure yet - I'll get figures ASAP but initially it was estimated that it would be enough to power 8 or 9 houses
