A review of the Fluxbox edition of the new Salix OS version 13.1.2.. A lightweight distribution that benefits from Slackware's speedy package management. Overall, a very tempting distribution combining a minimalist approach with nice artwork, traditional applications and the performance of Slackware and Fluxbox.

Thumbs up for conflicting redundancy - "Slackware is a very old package management system" @ 0:37 and "Slackware is by no means old or antiquated" @ 0:44 . Uhh, one day I'll get better at speaking.

  • Fluxbox is not based on openbox (it's older and imho still better).

The desktop clicking depends on your filemanager and not your windows manager.

  • @jvxxxxx Okay, thanks for clarifying... :-)

  • @ 13:32 What terminal command to I enter to get that task manager/performance info

  • @dynetrax Simply type "htop", thanks for asking.

  • Cool, BTW check out the Mint 10 KDE release candidate. I must say, as a Windows user I'm impressed.

  • @tostoday Wonderful, I've been waiting for sooooo long for that release. Thanx for telling me!

  • Slackware is an operating system, not a package management system :)
