Audio of teenage boy with a developmental disability/mania and psychosis while mother attempts to get him ready to attend day camp. People need to hear what life is like for families and the constant strain and stress they live with in their day to day lives. This boy was denied services from the Washington State Department of Developmental Disabilties even though he was on a Home and Community Based Service Waiver. He was never allowed to have respite care. His family disintegrated. Finally able to move him to an Intermediate Care Facility for People with Developmental Disabilities, 11 months after the parents and healthcare team first requested this care, this boy stabilized. He currently lives at Fircrest School in Shoreline Washington. This turned into a Success Story.
