Rein demonstrates how you can create and scan a new kind of barcode which uses colour. The barcode generator demo is made as part of the graduation assignment of Rein at Working Tomorrow (www.workingtomorrow.nl), the graduation program of LogicaCMG (www.logicacmg.nl) in Holland.

  • My Patent Evidence is NOT SPAM!!!! I demand to be reached by representatives of youtube as I have every legal right to publish the truth. Further, it seems youtube is unreachable. How convenient.

  • I have 2 Provisional Patent Specifications dating back to 1995 and 1996 respectively. The Provisional Patent Numbers are:

TITLE: Polychromatic data representation for identification labels. (1995)

    (1995 Patent)PN 4096 Filing Date: 12 July, 1995.

TITLE: Identification tag data compression means using multiple wavelengths of light

    (1996 Patent)PO0984 Filing date: 15 July, 1996.

As the original inventor of the 3D or colour barcode, I expect at the very least, academic credit for this.

  • My Patent Lists have been marked as spam. Perhaps this may be a way to suppress the truth.

  • Rein, firstly may I say I respect your creativity and work...

But fair is fair. I have invested thousands of dollars in 1995 and 1996 on SpectraCode. My invention was identical to yours, but I invented it in 1995. I have a list of numerous organisations and individuals who can verify my work in Australia at the time. My previous post lists the Patent Applications at the time. I have started a campaign to acquire academic justice for myself.

  • The example he held up for a 2-D barcode is known as a QR Code, where the actual one used in the project is likely of the Data Matrix type.

I actually came up with this idea about 2 weeks ago and didn't tell anyone, so I really should have expected that someone else had already written all the software to generate and recognize them... All my original ideas are already taken. :-)

  • Not really that new of an idea... I remember watching a show back in the 80s, that used to stream information from the TV using a series of alternating dots in a square. I think the show was, "Computer Chronicles."

And since he added color to an already existing 2D bar code, wouldn't that technically make it a 3D bar code?

  • Neat idea. Curious about some things, though. How much information can the barcode store? Does the program worry about orientation? And what happens when a barcode is scanned under non-white light?

If those problems have been dealt with, then this idea could really strike it big as an advertising tool, or even as a quick information transmission technique. ^^
