It's the return of the Embassy Suites to downtown Denver. They have been gone from the metro Denver area for nearly a decade now as the Ritz-Carlton now occupies the original building. One unfortunate turn in the Embassy Suites building design is the side-stepping of the scenic elevator that seems to be a regular feature in their hotels. The original downtown hotel had them as do both the hotel in the DTC area as well as by the former Stapleton airport. Additionally, other locations featured on YouTube also had them, so what gives? Well, according to someone I talked to, it seems that people are afraid of them. Funny how this is so considering that they are staying in a high rise hotel and their room has a window, not to mention (well in this particular building) that the halls to their rooms are basically fenced edges several hundred feet up. The lobby is a hundred and thirty foot high atrium like many upscale high rise hotels and floors are like balconies. The lady maintains that many people will avoid looking out the window. Wow. What a shame. These people are spending several hundred, even thousands of dollars for panoramic views that they assume just keep the curtains closed on. Unfortunately for us that do like glass elevators, we get the shaft!, literally.
Well anyway, this is the newly opened Embassy Suites, only a few days since it opened it's doors. Another minus is that the elevators are restricted to residents above the fourth floor, which is the main lobby where you check in.
COME ON EMBASSY SUITES? why no scenic elevators. THESE NEED TO BE GLASS!

Nice elevators, but 1-4 are open? That's pathetic.

Nice hotel. Too bad the upper floors are locked off.
Then again, take the MPE up to 17, or as high as you'd like, and do a full downward trip. :)
