Die heute 94 jährige Schweizerin Elisabeth Eidenbenz rettete zwischen 1939 und 1944 600 Kinder in ihrer Geburtsklinik nahe Perpignan. Am Anfang Kinder spanischer Flüchtlingsfrauen, die vor Franco nach Südfrankreich geflohen waren und in den zahlreichen Flüchtlingslagern unter erbärmlichen Bedingungen lebten.
