Burns Buzzaround replicant by F Hole
Ken Lasaine on guitar, using a Strat, a Heritage Les Paul and a Fender Jazzmaster through a mid 1950s Danelectro Centurion 15 watt amp.

This fuzz pedal is based on the legendary Baldwin Burns Buzzaround.
The Buzzaround was made in England between about 1965 to 1968. Most famously used by Robert Fripp on the early King Crimson material. Very similar in many ways to the SolaSound Tonebender, with some key differences. They both use 3 germanium transistors, but the 3 knobs on the Buzzaround are very interactive and allow for a much wider range of tonal variations. While it can get classic 60s fuzz tone sounds, this pedal also has a very beefy, modern sound.

The knobs as originally labeled, from left to right, are: Sustain, Balance, Timbre. There is no one "volume" knob, or "tone" knob. They must be twisted and turned to discover what they actually do to the sound, and many great sounds can be found in the corners by turning one knob almost all the way down while turning another all the way up. And of course, all points in between give a lot of variety.

These pedals are handmade by F Hole using some great sounding NOS germanium transistors. As they are not the exact transistors used in the originals, this would not be considered a true "clone", but the rest of the circuit is the same as the original. You can certainly dial in the 21st Century Schizoid Man sound if you want it!
