Not convinced fordman 444. You may be right concerning Buddy Merrell on the steel...except why didn't they show him instead of the lead player mimi-ing the timing? Plus, why would LW do a fade on a live show? I played the record again, and because the YOU TUBE cut is muddy, it's hard for me to hear the difference in background vocals as well. I'm no Lennons expert, so I'll defer to you.

@kpdepk Sorry but Buddy Merrell most always played the steel on the country and western shows and the recording sounds nothing like the beautiful Lennon girls singing back up as it does on this show!

Sounds to me like this was the original recording on the background, not Lawrence Welks band. The camera man showed the lead guitar where the steel was playing, probably there was no steel guitar within a hundred miles of Lawrence Welks studio. Plus there are OOOOHs on the background vocals that the trio are not doing. I would be surprised the Mr. Welk did it this way, but it sure sounds like the record.

...Connie Smith was first choice to be a regular on the Welk show..1966 ?

@stangrub1 I enjoyed this song, but got mad at the cameraman when the steel player took the break & he filmed the guitar player instead, duh! I've met Lloyd & he's been one of my favorites for a long time :)

Sorry to say Lynn hasn't held onto her beauty like the Lennon girls have !
Perhaps shouldn't single out individuals, but have Kathy and Dianne Lennon ever looked more elegant and beautiful?
