The Bamwoozler

A non-fishing co-worker "wrapped" this rod for me as a joke for Christmas...sort of a white elephant gift. I named it the Bamwoozler because it's made from a piece of black bambook from his yard, misaligned guides, a Quantum reel screwed to the handle and two mountain bike handle rubber grips as the handle. And of course, I had to give it a try. So I took it out on San Diego Bay this weekend and baby if that thing didn't have some sweet fishing mojo! I hooked up on a dozen or so spotted bay bass with the biggest two topping 2lbs. The rod held it's own and I'm hoping it holds up to a nice halibut or bonita the next time I'm out on the water.
