Winter in Africa ft Kenya

Het is winter. Sneeuw in Afrika. Terwijl de hoogste toppen van Afrika zijn bedekt met eeuwige sneeuw, zucht Oost Afrika aan de grond onder de verzengende zon. Juist in deze periode is Oost Afrika vol leven. Veel dieren hebben nu nakomelingen. In het noordelijke Samburu vinden wij de zeldzame Gerenuk, Netgiraffe en Grevy Zebra's. Bavianen met hun jongen maken de bomen onveilig. Terwijl een grote olifantenstier aanstalten maakt om aan te vallen, trekt een kudde olifanten met hun speelse kleintjes door de bijna drooggevallen rivierbedding. Groene Meerkatten maakte korte metten met de fruitcocktails van toeristen. Impala's bevechten fel elkaars territorium. Oryxen hebben kalfjes en een Waterbok doet moeite om een hinde te beslaan. Gebroeders Cheetah worden gevolgd op de jacht. Behalve zijn miljoenen flamingo's, kent Nakuru ook de Witte Neushoorn, de schuwe Colobus apen en Waterbokken. Bij semi nomadische stammen, de Samburu en Masai krijgers, worden foto's uitgedeeld. De Masai Mara is decor voor een groep leeuwen, die furieus zijn prooi verdedigt. De film toont het unieke gebeuren gedurende de winter, wanneer Oost Afrika bruist van nieuw leven. De kraamkamer in Februari. Winter in Afrika.

It is winter. Snow in Africa. While the highest summits of Africa are covered with eternal snow, East Africa down on the ground sighs under the blazing sun. East Africa is now full of life. Many animals have offspring.

In the Northern area of Samburu the rare Gerenuk is found, the Reticulated Giraffe and the Grevy's Zebra. Olive Baboons with their infants are making the trees unsafe. Whilst a large elephant bull prepares to charge, the herd with the playful juveniles follows the riverbed that now is almost dry. Vervet Monkeys make short work of fruit cocktails kindly offered to them by tourists. Impalas are fighting vigorously to protect their territory. Oryx have offspring and a Waterbuck makes serious efforts to mount a hind. Brothers Cheetah are followed on their hunt. As well as the millions of flamingos, Nakuru is known for the White Rhino, the shy Colobus Monkey and the Waterbuck. The Masai Mara sets the stage for a pride of lions defending their prey. The film shows unique events during winter, when East Africa experiences an abundance of wildlife. The large maternity home in February. Winter in Africa.
