@Tsigano You know, without being pejorative, this is a show more "vaso gadje". We play often in gypsy weddings in Romania and there bride, groom and guests are dancing and of course not in this way! You can look at Nadara gypsy band videos to see what we call traditional roma dance from Transylvania. Da ke cames astik te das amen duma romanes. Katar san tumen?

@Nadaragypsyband If my people saw this at one of our weddings we would all be lajhles (ashamed / embarrassed). Especially in front of the bride and groom, their family and all the older generation. It isn't traditional across the Romani world. Only from in and around Turkey where it is more a part of the local Gajhe culture.

@Nadaragypsyband It should also be noted that amongst most Romani groups this sort of dancing would be seen as being gajikanes and disrespectful to act. marime even. Especially in front of strangers.

@savygypsy Thanks for your comments, since romani culture is not righted it's impossible to close it to this or this style. Depending of the country roma live and from the differents influence, I think Romani culture can be very different. You're right belly dance is not "traditional" romani culture but it's part of this culture. All gypsy girl dance belly dance very well, and this come from the Indian, Turkish and bulgarian influence. @bellydanceforyou Then how come no Rromane (Romani) whether they are Sinte, Manush), Kale, Lovari, Roma, Romungro, Romanichal or any other baranch who have been split up from the time they entered into Europe don't belly dance yet they all have similar traits which include things such as clapping, tap dancing (or claping of hands against legs), arms raised in similar manners (though different to belly dancers) etc. Their dancing however does mirror Indian dances which again aren't belly dance.

@Tsigano You don't know that... bellydance or oriental dance is very very very very old... the history can't tel us excactly where bellydance came from.

Some theorie says it started in the Middle East. Some theories says it comes from the First Romani people from Rajastan! So you never know if bellydance IS comming from your culture... and if it is... i should be proud of it.. its a very special beautifull art form... It is just that most dancers don't do it like it supost to be.......

Belly Dancing is Middle Eastern / Africa in origin and is something that has often been associated with harlots for nobles or kings etc during parts of history and has no part in Rromani culture. We have our own unique dances and dress codes.
