  • if Alec Guiness was still alive, I would tell him that I have seen Star Wars over a hundred times, seen Harry Potter over a hundred times and seen LOTR over a hundred times. And I wonder what he would say. I don't care that he said this. It makes him seem even more badass.

  • this owns, star wars sucks mad balls

  • The "Guinness syndrome" definition = the ability to be ungrateful, insulting and patronizing towards others who helped you made lots of money and live a comfortable lifestyle. All the while making yourself feel smart and superior to others who were foolish enough to tell you that they enjoyed your work!

  • @RDarth don't deny yourself films you may enjoy just to spite a dead man

  • Alec was an ungrateful twerp.

  • @jhibbitt1 *alec

  • consider both the time sir alex guinness came from and his generation, movies and tv wern't as big back then nor was the idea of nerd fanatics or whatever you call it as opposed to what we see more of today with things like harry potter and lord of the rings. i can understand that guinness had probably never encountered such a thing before and was more alarmed by this than people nowdays would be as it was less common. the way he desribes it sounds very much like that

  • Sir Alec showed foresight in asking for a share of the profits from Star Wars instead of a flat fee. Of course, if he really felt bad about Star Wars he could have given the money away. I suppose he was showing kindness of a sort and probably had the boy's best interests at heart. Perhaps Sir Alec felt that Star Wars overshadowed his earlier brilliant theatrical and film work and he became grumpy about this. He probably wanted to be remembered for playing Hamlet not Obi-Wan.

  • i wonder what guinness would have said if the had replied, "but everytime i watch it feels like the first time?"

  • I love the devout Catholic saying, "I hope that man isn't living in a world of childish second rate moralities" ha ha, talk abt irony! Guinness was a complex man, a closet homosexual who never came to terms with his sexuality, a man who could say nothing good abt any director he worked with, and often perplexing & sour to friends. Like many great actors, he had his own way.
