From the album "Big Canoe". IMHO Tim's voice was at it's absolute best when he recorded this album, and I think he gives what is surely one of his best vocal performances here.

I'm including the lyrics because I get asked alot for them.
Here they are:

"No Thunder, No Fire, No Rain"
Martin sets out from the village (called)
Katta pella kopa leh
As the blue sun rehearse a falling roll
And even the vultures still sleep
Martin's bus comes to the forest of
Katta pella kopa leh
With the engine blowing steam into the morning dust
As farmers lead cattle to grass

CHORUS

No thunder, no fire, no rain
With Nia ceta nova lain

Martin checks into the chemical plant of
Katta pella kopa leh
As his young bride prepares for the evening feast
And in zone three he starts the long day
Martin works with strange blue waters (called)
Niacetanovalain
As the warning bell rings critical he hits the floor
And his young bride paints beads for the feast

CHORUS

Martin feels a cold wind screaming
Katta pella kopa leh
As the red sun rehearses another roll
And over the fire she stirs peas
Martin was killed in the company name
Katta pella kopa leh
As the toxin tore right through his soul
And his young bride puts flowers in her hair

CHORUS

  • Tim Finn is an amazing songrwriter. He languishes in his brother's shadow somewhat, of course, and Neil is amazing in his own right. But there are few songwriters on this planet that have as strong a sense of melody as Tim. I play guitar and write music myslef, and my ultimate goal is to write ONE pop song that is as good as Tim's best. I doubt I will ever accomplish this.

  • @happyone321

You have described Tim to a tee! :D

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • @dazza507

    You're welcome! :)

  • Whats the difference between a person from Bhopal, and a parking meter?

If Union Carbide had destroyed 3000 parking meters, they would have got in to trouble.

Arrogant, heartless corporation. Makes me feel sick to the stomach.

  • A brilliant observation, gerretl!

I couldn't have said it better!

  • Big Canoe was a shamefully neglected album, and this song was one of the most beautiful on it. I remember when it was released in 1986 and i first heard this song. The radio DJ was so enamored by the song he read the lyrics to it after he played it.
