Different cultures, beliefs, standards, the Japanese are an amazing race of people but at the time they thought we were no better than cockroaches & treated us diabolically. It's no worse than than us Brits have done to so many others in our chequered past?
This film is excellent, Bowie, love him or hate him, is brilliant & Sakamoto is equally convincing & the rest of the cast are accomplished actors anyway. The repressed feelings & forbidden love are beautifully balanced and the music.... OMG!

Sexy Bowie, all the suffering of the prisoneers, Saint Lawrence, diabolic Japanese...Holy ideology, for a moment I almost forgot who has been the real imperialist vilain in the real world for the last centuries.

J'ai vu le film et je dois dire que je suis assez impressionées par le role de David Bowie.
Il le joue à la perfection, je pensais pas qu'il avait fait acteur avant d'etre chanteur..
Et quand je vois ce qu'il est devenu comme chanteur, je le prefère nettement en acteur dans ce film^^
