Riding the nice, modern elevators at 823 Congress in Austin, Texas.

  • 13 FTW! It's hard to find a building with floor 13

  • Yes, and there are actually a handful of buildings in Austin that do have a 13th floor.

  • That was very frightening, and I think it was overspeed, that was stopped by the governor/safety brake assembly. For the speed, it would be 1200 FPM, which is very fast.

  • Yes, unless it's an underground parking level.

  • My friend got stuck in that elevator after it gained a lot of speed and went to P to 15 in 5 seconds!

  • Yes, and the long buzz is even more annoying, especially with say 100 floors.

  • That buzz can get annoying sometimes, but I guess it depends on how many floors there are.
