I had the Dragonfly set up at my local guitar shop. He did the filing for the Trubass "B".
For anybody interested in buying a Dragonfly, I should mention that it required two visits to the shop to repair problems due to the poor Chinese quality control. However, it is a well designed and beautiful intrument, & still recommended despite the questionable Chinese quality control.
The "El Capitan" sounds fascintating.

I've been very happy with it. The only design issue I have is that they used the old "chord jack = strap anchor" assembly which is just asking for your jack to work loose & makes installing a strap-lok pin tricky.
Thanks for viewing!

I also own a Dragonfly 5 Fretless & love it. I have the Rotosound Trubass 88 tapewound strings on it for the "upright" sound. The sound difference between this and my solid body basses is amazing. However, the "B" is quite floppy. So, I'd recommend stringing it to E-A-D-G-C instead if you want to use these strings. There are other strings which won't give the "floppy B". The LaBella 1954 Style Flatwounds would do nicely if you want the "low B".
I enjoy your videos! Please keep posting.

I agree. This bass is strung w/ the High C. The nut was actually too narrow to fit a coated Low-B string, & I didn't want to file it. I have an Epiphone El Capitan fretless acoustic 5-string that I string w/ Low B - also the TruBass. Its heavier & bigger body projects that lower pitch better, too.
Thanks for watching!

I REALLY like my Dragonfly. The only problem I've had is that they use the instrument jack as strap holder - Makes using Strap-Lok hardware a hassle & causes the jack to work loose easily.
I also have an Epiphone El Capitan 5-str fretless which has a more powerful output from electronics, a bigger bout & handles the low-B better (my MK has a high C). It has 1/4" and XLR outs.
Both really nice. Ibanez, Dean, Ovation & others make nice ABs, too. Try as many models as you can.

The core of the string is Monel® - an alloy of nickel, copper, iron & some other junk. They're flat-wound or tape-wound - like wrapping a flat ribbon around the core instead of a other wire - very smooth, then black nylon coating on top. Love their feel & on an acoustic - nice upright sound.. Using processor here, but often play straight into an amp.
Thanks!
