Gregory Paradis as Harpagon losing all control when he discovers that his hoard of money is no longer there in the Worcester Academy Theatre Department's 2005 production of The Miser, directed by Diana Canterbury. Loosely following the script, when he ran into the audience he just let loose! One night he smacked the headmaster around and called him tall, horrid, and ugly, and another night he yelled at a math teacher for dressing like a whore...good times!

  • This was good to see because I'm doing Harpagon for my HSC. I don't think I'm allowed to run around the audience though, haha.

  • well best of luck with your performance!!! it was great being given those liberties with the monologue.....i made most of it up!

  • this is genuinely quite LOL ;)

  • however I can translate every second word to my language,I is very great! :-D :)

  • this is great. I'm playing Harpagon in a couple months. Unfortunately this part was cut back quite a bit due to a two hour time limit we have for the whole play.

  • I'm performing this Monologue in a week tomorrow... i barely know my lines and i'm supposed to be giving a working progres performance to a group of year 9s tomorrow... I'm stuffed.

  • haha damn.. im thinking of acting like this as harpagon.. I'm playing harpagon on my school play and my line sounds soo boring. maybe i'll do this. Man the line here is way off than what I have on my script, my line is probably x 10 this line.

  • Hi Greg, I had my drama exams on Thursday in which I did an 8 minute monodrama as Harpagon. I also performed it at a theatre last Tuesday. I will see if I can get some footage up. It was so much fun acting as Harpagon :)

  • i hope thats a good thing! if yes, thanks! It was wonderful fun. Sort of a swan song for all us seniors. :-)
