  • This cartoon has haunted me for life! Its the saddest thing i remember seeing as a child! Im so glad ive found it so I can finally show people what ive been banging on about.

  • Well, there's one other MGM cartoon that's even sadder - "The Field Mouse," where the little field mouse family thinks grandpa got cut up by the wheat thrasher!

  • This was my favorite cartoon as a child, where did you get this?

  • These MGM classics were posted on the vintage cartoon newsgroup this past fall.

  • I am not afraid to admit that even at my age, I STILL cry at this cartoon. And as I'm typing this, I'm wiping the tears from my cheeks. Thanks for having this video.

  • OMG i love this cartoon!!

  • so cute

  • Which cartoons would you prefer: the MGM Hugh Herman cartoons or the Warner Bros. cartoons?

  • @BorisFangirl

He was - but his mom made everything right in the end, as moms do. Sunny has a whole lifetime to learn about the harsh realities of the world. He needs his Fairy Palace a little longer...

  • @katinaanimator I myself have tried to forget this cartoon, for Dr. Primrose was such a swindler. But I still like it. Glad you like it too.

  • @jackismyfriend

Haunted is the word. My sister just sent this to me and I feel kind of at peace now. How can it have such an impact?? So glad to know I'm not the only one thanks to all these comments!

  • I've been looking for this cartoon for months!! Thank you so much for downloading it! It makes me cry every time I watch it! So moving! I used to pretend like this when I was a kid, and it was such a wonderful imaginative world to live in!

  • Like others have said here, this cartoon was significant to me as a child. I related deeply with this little mole on several levels. I am still touched, and can smell the wood floors of our house even now, and see the quality of the afternoon light filtering in through our sheers. Thank you.

  • A truly moving cartoon that made such an impact on me as a child...I've never forgotten it.

I must echo the same sentiments that others have posted...I too still cry when I think about the little lost mole who lost his fairy castle. It represents, to me, innocence lost. It was the love of his mother (who amazingly could see her child from far away...or not so amazingly for a mother's love) that restored his childhood dream.

Home, family, love, motherhood, childhood...what more could you want

  • This cartoon has always made me cry!....Tears still flow from my eyes!!!

I posted it on my profile whenever I feel like a good cry!
