  • If this kids gonna play alone he should do one of two things:

    1. Play an acoustic guitar

    or

    2. Adjust the guitar tone. It would sound alright with a band but it's wayyy too naked and treble-y alone. Add some reverb or something. It just needs more depth.

  • k, in defense of corey, if i remember correctly their van/trailer broke down like the day before and the rest of the band and their equipment couldn't make it to this show so this was kind of an impromptu, unrehearsed thing that barely happened.

that said, i agree with your suggestions for improvement.

  • wow. that was a great cover. of course its not nearly as good as the original but its still pretty good. i think i'm gonna check out The Graduate now. which record is best?

  • They only have one full-length album out right now, it's called Anhedonia. I'd definitely recommend it!

  • Hey Im from Kansas City... Ive never heard of this guy..... this wasnt a concert was it?? Does he ever perform at the grenada or bomont??

  • yeah it was a concert at grand emporium. he's in the band the graduate and they just played in lawrence at the bottleneck last week... they don't have any more shows scheduled in kansas city right now, though.

  • no one can sing this as well as Jesse Lacey, but it's a pretty good live cover!

  • Overall good cover, but the build-up at the end was disappointing. No one can match Lacey's emotion.

  • Ok I just stumbled across this cover again after a couple years, and I can't believe people are ragging on the quality of the sound. If you have heard the original, then you know the song has a high degree of treble. That's the way Brand New wrote it, and it was lovingly recreated here.

    R.I.P Graduate <3

  • He definitely tries to make it sound good at the end, instead of putting an emotional touch on it like Jesse, which is really what makes Brand New the band they are.

  • really great voice

timing is kinda all over the place...

very nice for an impromptu thing though!

  • whats this bands best song?

  • no distortion for the chorus eh.... but still its a good cover

  • @pageseventyfive this is pretty close to how the guitar sounds in the original song, and this song just sounds weird on acoustic...i've done an acoustic cover of it and it loses a lot when you palm mute on an acoustic

  • Brand new songs are soooo hard to cover. no one can match the amount of emotion jesse puts into each song.

  • @Steveo1o2 most instruments are played by one man at a time..

  • wtf is the graduate?

not bad cover so far though.

  • this guy is a sexy beast! voice is hot too, i loved it!
